Friday Sermon dated 26-1-1430 AH
إنّ الحمد لله نحمده ونستعينه ونستغفره ونتوب إليه ، ونعوذ بالله من شرور أنفسنا وسيِّئات أعمالنا ، من يهده الله فلا مضل له ، ومن يضلل فلا هادي له ، وأشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له ، وأشهد أنّ محمّداً عبده ورسوله ؛ صلى الله وسلّم عليه وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين .
First Sermon:
Praise be to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, and ask for His forgiveness and guidance. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our souls and from the consequences of our bad deeds. Whoever Allah guides, no one can mislead, and whoever He leads astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, his family, and all his companions.
أما بعد عباد الله معاشر المؤمنين : اتقوا الله تعالى وراقبوه سبحانه مراقبة من يعلم أن ربَّه يسمعه ويراه . وتقوى الله جلّ وعلا : عملٌ بطاعة الله على نورٍ من الله رجاء ثواب الله ، وتركٌ لمعصية الله على نورٍ من الله خيفة عذاب الله.
Servants of Allah, fellow believers: Fear Allah and be conscious of Him as one who knows that his Lord hears and sees him. The fear of Allah, exalted and glorious, involves acting in obedience to Allah in the light of divine guidance, hoping for His reward, and avoiding disobedience to Allah in the light of divine guidance, fearing His punishment.
عباد الله : هنيئاً لكم بهذا اليوم المبارك العظيم ؛ يوم الجمعة ، عيد الأسبوع ، خير أيام الأسبوع ، وخير يومٍ طلعت فيه الشّمس ، فيه خُلق آدم ، وفيه من الخصائص والفضائل ما يتميز به عن غيره من الأيام ، ولهذا – عباد الله – يجب علينا جميعاً أن نقدُر لهذا اليوم قدره وأن نعرف له مكانته وأن نستشعر خصائصه وفضائله ، وأن نحقق العبودية المطلوبة منا في هذا اليوم واجبها ومستحبها فرضها ونفلها لنفوز بالأجور العظيمة والأفضال الكريمة التي أعدها الله لعباده في هذا اليوم {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِذَا نُودِي لِلصَّلَاةِ مِن يَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَاسْعَوْا إِلَى ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَذَرُوا الْبَيْعَ ذَلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ }[الجمعة:9] .
عباد الله : إنّ استشعار المسلم لمكانة هذا اليوم العظيمة ومنزلته العليّة وقيامه بتحقيق العبوديّة المطلوبة في هذا اليوم يكون له زاداً في أسبوعه كلّه ، ويكون قوةً للإيمان ، وزيادةً في اليقين ، وقوةً في الصلة بربّ العالمين جلّ شأنه وعظُم عزّ وجلّ.
Servants of Allah: Congratulations on this great and blessed day, Friday, the weekly festival, the best day of the week, the best day on which the sun has risen. On this day, Adam was created, and it has unique features and virtues that distinguish it from other days. Therefore, servants of Allah, we must all appreciate this day, recognize its status, and be aware of its features and virtues. We must fulfill the worship required of us on this day, both obligatory and recommended, so that we may attain the great rewards and noble favors that Allah has prepared for His servants on this day. {O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu’ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.} [Al-Jumu’ah: 9].
Servants of Allah: A Muslim’s awareness of the great status and high position of this day, and his commitment to fulfilling the required worship on this day, will serve as sustenance for his entire week. It will strengthen his faith, increase his certainty, and enhance his connection with the Lord of the Worlds, Exalted and Glorious.
عباد الله : ولهذا شُرع للمسلمين في هذا اليوم أعمال جليلة وطاعاتٌ عظيمة بها تكميل إيمانهم وتتميم دينهم وصلاح قلوبهم وزكاة نفوسهم وبخاصة في هذه الصلاة الجامعة وما يقدُمها ويسبقها من خطبتين عظيمتين فيهما التذكير بأصول الإيمان وقواعد الإسلام وكليات الشريعة وآداب هذا الدين العظيمة ؛ مما يكون في ذلك ومما يترتب على ذلك الأثر البالغ في القلوب والنفوس ، وكلما كانت عناية المسلم بهذا اليوم تبكيرا وتطهراً واغتسالاً وتطيبا إلى غير ذلك من السنن والمطالب يكون ذلك أكملُ في حقه وأجمعُ له في طاعته وأتمُّ في تحقيق الفائدة المرجوة ، ولهذا صح عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم الحث على التبكير إلى صلاة الجمعة وأن من جاء في الساعة الأولى فكأنما قرّب بدنة ، ومن جاء في الساعة الثانية فكأنما قرّب بقرة ، ومن جاء في الساعة الثالثة فكأنما قرّب كبشا ، ومن جاء في الساعة الرابعة فكأنما قرّب دجاجة ، ومن جاء في الساعة الخامسة فكأنما قرّب بيضة ، وبهذا يُعلم تفاوت الناس في تحصيل فضل الجمعة وبركة هذا اليوم بحسب تفاوتهم بالعناية بفضائل هذا اليوم والعبوديات المطلوبة من المسلم فيه .
Servants of Allah: For this reason, Muslims are prescribed to perform noble acts and great acts of worship on this day, which enhance their faith, complete their religion, purify their hearts, and cleanse their souls, especially during the congregational prayer and the two preceding sermons. These sermons remind us of the fundamentals of faith, the pillars of Islam, the general principles of Sharia, and the great etiquettes of this religion. This has a profound effect on the hearts and souls. The more a Muslim cares for this day by coming early, purifying himself, bathing, and perfuming himself, and other related Sunnah practices, the more complete and beneficial his worship will be.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged coming early to the Friday prayer. He said that those who come in the first hour are like those who offer a camel, those who come in the second hour are like those who offer a cow, those who come in the third hour are like those who offer a ram, those who come in the fourth hour are like those who offer a chicken, and those who come in the fifth hour are like those who offer an egg. This shows the varying degrees of people in attaining the virtue and blessings of Friday according to their diligence in observing the merits and required acts of worship of this day.
عباد الله : وأعظم ما ينبغي أن يُعتنى به تذكيراً وبياناً ونُصحاً وإرشاداً وتوجيهاً ودلالة في هذا اليوم المبارك التذكير بأصول الإيمان وقواعد الدِّين العظام وتفاصيل الشريعة مما يحتاج الناس إليه ويحتاجون إلى التذكير والمذاكرة فيه مما يكون به زوال الغفلة وحصول اليقظة وزيادة الإيمان ، وفي الحديث يقول عليه الصلاة والسلام : ((الْإِيمَانُ بِضْعٌ وَسَبْعُونَ أَوْ بِضْعٌ وَسِتُّونَ شُعْبَةً، فَأَفْضَلُهَا قَوْلُ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ، وَأَدْنَاهَا إِمَاطَةُ الْأَذَى عَنْ الطَّرِيقِ ، وَالْحَيَاءُ شُعْبَةٌ مِنْ الْإِيمَانِ)) ؛ فما أجمل حال أهل الإيمان وهم يتذكرون هذه الشعب العظيمة والخصال الجليلة ويُذكّرون بها في هذا اليوم الأغر المبارك فيزدادون إيماناً وتزداد صلتهم بالله واستمساكهم بشرائع الإسلام وقواعد الدِّين العظام ، بخلاف ما إذا نحِي بخطبة الجمعة مناحٍ أخرى تُشتت فيها الأذهان وتُبعد عن حقيقة ما يطلب في مثل هذا الاجتماع .
Servants of Allah: The most important thing to focus on, to remind, explain, advise, guide, and direct on this blessed day is the reminder of the fundamentals of faith, the great principles of religion, and the details of Sharia that people need and need to be reminded of. This helps to remove heedlessness, bring about alertness, and increase faith.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in a hadith: “Faith has over seventy branches, or over sixty branches, the best of which is the statement ‘There is no god but Allah,’ and the least of which is removing a harmful object from the road, and modesty is a branch of faith.” How beautiful is the state of the believers as they remember these great branches and noble qualities and are reminded of them on this bright, blessed day, increasing their faith, strengthening their connection with Allah, and holding firmly to their religion. In accordance with the principles of Islam and the great rules of the religion, unlike when the Friday sermon takes different directions that scatter minds and distance them from the true purpose of such gatherings.”
عباد الله : علينا جميعاً أن نرعى لهذا اليوم حقَّه وأن نعرف له مكانته وأن نربي أنفسنا وأبناءنا على العناية بهذا اليوم المبارك ، جعل الله هذا اليوم لنا جميعاً خير زاد إلى رضوان الله وإلى سعادة الدنيا والآخرة .
أقول هذا القول واستغفر الله لي ولكم ولسائر المسلمين من كل ذنب فاستغفروه يغفر لكم إنه هو الغفور الرحيم .
Servants of Allah: We must all respect this day, recognize its significance, and raise ourselves and our children to care for this blessed day. May Allah make this day a means for all of us to attain His pleasure and happiness in this world and the hereafter.
I say this and seek Allah’s forgiveness for myself and for you and for all Muslims from every sin. Seek His forgiveness; indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
الخطبة الثانية :
الحمد لله عظيم الإحسان واسع الفضل والجود والامتنان ، وأشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وحده لا شريك له ، وأشهد أنّ محمّداً عبده ورسوله ؛ صلى الله وسلم عليه وعلى آله وأصحابه أجمعين .
Second Sermon:
Praise be to Allah, the Magnificent in beneficence, the vast in grace and generosity. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, his family, and all his companions.
أما بعد عباد الله : اتّقوا الله تعالى ؛ فإن من اتقى الله وقاه وأرشده إلى خير أمور دينه ودنياه ، وتزوّدوا للقاء الله ، وخير زاد للقاء
Servants of Allah: Fear Allah; for whoever fears Allah, He protects and guides him to the best of his religion and worldly affairs. Prepare for the meeting with Allah, and the best provision for the meeting with Allah is piety. {And take provisions, but indeed, the best provision is fear of Allah.
الله جلّ وعلا تقواه
{وَتَزَوَّدُواْ فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الزَّادِ التَّقْوَى وَاتَّقُونِ يَا أُوْلِي الأَلْبَابِ } [البقرة:197] .
Allah, May He be Exalted says:
So fear Me, O men of understanding! [Al-Baqarah: 197].
والكيِّس من عباد الله من دان نفسه وعمل لما بعد الموت ، والعاجز من اتبع نفسه هواها وتمنى على الله الأماني ، واعلموا أنّ أصدق الحديث كلام الله وخير الهدى هدى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ، وشرّ الأمور محدثاتها وكلّ محدثة بدعة وكلّ بدعة ضلالة وكل ضلالة في النار ، وعليكم بالجماعة فإنَّ يد الله على الجماعة .
The prudent among the servants of Allah is the one who holds himself accountable and works for what comes after death, while the incapable is the one who follows his desires and places false hopes in Allah. Know that the most truthful speech is the Book of Allah and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The worst of matters are those newly invented, for every innovation is a misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire. Hold to the congregation, for the hand of Allah is over the congregation.
وصلُّوا وسلِّموا – رعاكم الله – على محمد بن عبد الله كما أمركم الله بذلك في كتابه فقال: ﴿ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيماً ﴾ [الأحزاب:٥٦] ، وقال صلى الله عليه وسلم : (( مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ صَلاةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ بِهَا عَشْرًا))، وقد جاء عنه عليه الصلاة والسلام الحثّ من الإكثار من الصلاة عليه في ليلة الجمعة ويومها ولهذا قال الإمام الشافعي رحمه الله : ” أحبُّ الصلاة والسلام على رسول الله في كل حين وهو في يوم الجمعة وليلتها أحب إليّ “.
Invoke blessings upon Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as Allah commanded you in His Book by saying: {Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, ask [ Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [ Allah to grant him] peace.} [Al-Ahzab: 56]. Invoke blessings upon him and ask for peace, as Allah says: {Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who have believed, ask [Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [Allah to grant him] peace.} [Al-Ahzab: 56]. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him tenfold.” He also encouraged the frequent recitation of blessings upon him on the night and day of Friday. Imam Al-Shafi’i (may Allah have mercy on him) said, “I prefer sending blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah at all times, but it is especially dear to me on Friday and its night.”
اللهم صلِّ على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما صليت على إبراهيم وعلى آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد ، وبارك على محمد وعلى آل محمد كما باركت على إبراهيم وعلى آل إبراهيم إنك حميد مجيد . وارض اللهمَّ عن الخلفاء الرّاشدين الأئمة المهديين أبي بكر الصّديق ، وعمر الفاروق ، وعثمان ذي النورين ، وأبي الحسنين علي ، وارْض اللهمّ عن الصّحابة أجمعين ، وعن التابعين ومن تبعهم بإحسان إلى يوم الدين ، وعنّا معهم بمنّك وكرمك وإحسانك يا أكرم الأكرمين.
O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You sent blessings upon Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. And bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim. Indeed, You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. O Allah, be pleased with the Rightly Guided Caliphs, the guided leaders: Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, Umar Al-Faruq, Uthman Dhun-Nurayn, and Ali Abu Al-Hasanayn. And be pleased, O Allah, with all the Companions, the followers, and those who follow them with goodness until the Day of Judgment. And [be pleased] with us among them by Your grace, generosity, and kindness, O Most Generous of the generous.
اللهم أعزّ الإسلام والمسلمين ، اللهم أعزّ الإسلام والمسلمين ، اللهم أعزّ الإسلام والمسلمين ، وأذلّ الشرك والمشركين ودمِّر أعداء الدِّين، واحمِ حوزة الدِّين يا ربّ العالمين ، اللهم آمِنا في أوطاننا وأصلح أئمّتنا وولاة أمورنا ، واجعلهم هداةً مهتدين يقولون بالحقّ وبه يعدلون
O Allah, grant honor to Islam and the Muslims. O Allah, grant honor to Islam and the Muslims. O Allah, grant honor to Islam and the Muslims, and humiliate shirk and the polytheists, and destroy the enemies of the religion. O Protector of the religion, O Lord of the Worlds. O Allah, grant us safety in our homelands and set right our leaders and those in authority over us, and make them guides who are rightly guided, who speak the truth and rule with justice.
. اللهم أعنّا ولا تعنْ علينا ، وانصرنا ولا تنصر علينا ، وامكر لنا ولا تمكر علينا ، اللهم واهدنا ويسِّر الهدى لنا ، وانصرنا على من بغى علينا ، اللهم اجعلنا لك شاكرين ، لك ذاكرين ، إليك أوّاهين منيبين ، لك مخبتين لك مطيعين ، اللهم تقبّل توبتنا واغسل حوبتنا واهد قلوبنا وأجب دعوتنا وسدِّد ألسنتنا واسلُل سخيمة صدورنا ، اللهمّ وأصلح ذات بيننا وألِّف بين قلوبنا واهدنا سبل السّلام وأخرجنا من الظلمات إلى النور ، وبارك لنا في أسماعنا وأبصارنا وأزواجنا وذرياتنا وأوقاتنا وأموالنا واجعلنا مباركين أينما كنا .
O Allah, help us and do not help others against us; support us and do not support others against us; plan for us and do not plan against us. Guide us and make guidance easy for us, and support us against those who transgress against us. O Allah, make us grateful to You, remembering You, humble before You, penitent, obedient, and submissive to You. O Allah, accept our repentance, wash away our sins, guide our hearts, answer our supplications, straighten our tongues, and remove resentment from our hearts.
O Allah, reconcile our differences, unite our hearts, guide us to the paths of peace, and bring us out of the darkness into the light. Bless our hearing, our sight, our spouses, our offspring, our times, and our wealth, and make us blessed wherever we are.
اللهم أصلح لنا ديننا الذي هو عصمة أمرنا ، وأصلح لنا دنيانا التي فيها معاشنا ، وأصلح لنا آخرتنا التي فيها معادنا ، واجعل الحياة زيادةً لنا في كلِّ خير واجعل الموت راحة لنا من كلِّ شر .
O Allah, set right our religion for us, which is the safeguard of our affairs, and set right our worldly life, which is our livelihood, and set right our Hereafter, to which is our return. Make life an increase for us in every good and make death a relief for us from every evil.
اللهمّ اغفر لنا ذنبنا كلَّه دِقَّه وجِلَّه أوّله وآخره سره وعلنه . اللهم اغفر لنا ولوالدينا وللمسلمين وللمسلمات والمؤمنين والمؤمنات الأحياء منهم والأموات.
O Allah, forgive all our sins, the minor and the major, the first and the last, the public and the private. O Allah, forgive us, our parents, and the Muslims, both men and women, the believers, both living and deceased.
اللهم إنا نستغفرك إنك كنت غفاراً فأرسل السماء علينا مدرارا ، اللهم اسقنا وأغثنا ، اللهم اسقنا وأغثنا ، اللهم اسقنا الغيث ولا تجعلنا من القانطين ، اللهم اسقنا الغيث ولا تجعلنا من اليائسين، اللهم إنا نسألك غيثا مغيثا هنيئا مريئا سحّا طبقا نافعا غير ضار , اللهم أغث قلوبنا بالإيمان وديارنا بالمطر . اللهم أغثنا ، اللهم أغثنا ، اللهم أغثنا.
O Allah, we seek Your forgiveness; indeed, You are the Oft-Forgiving. So send upon us abundant rain from the sky. O Allah, give us rain and relieve us. O Allah, give us rain and relieve us. O Allah, grant us beneficial rain and do not make us among the despairing. O Allah, grant us beneficial, pleasant, and ample rain that brings life and is not harmful. O A O Allah, quench our hearts with faith and our lands with rain.Oh Allah, relieve us, relieve us, relieve us.
اللهم أعطنا ولا تحرمنا وزدنا ولا تنقصنا وآثرنا ولا تؤثر علينا . ربنا آتنا في الدنيا حسنة وفي الآخرة حسنة وقنا عذاب النار.
O Allah, give to us and do not withhold, increase for us and do not decrease, honor us and do not dishonor us. Our Lord, give us in this world good and in the Hereafter good and protect us from the torment of the Fire.
عباد الله : اذكروا الله يذكركم ، واشكروه على نعمه يزدكم ، ) وَلَذِكْرُ اللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ) .
Servants of Allah: Remember Allah, He will remember you. Be grateful to Him for His blessings, He will increase you. {And the remembrance of Allah is greater, and Allah knows what you do.} [Al-Ankabut: 45].
